A long tradition of hospitality in the heart of Duino.

Our
History

In the summer of 1921, Grandma Elisa opened her inn in the heart of Duino, just a short walk from the majestic castle overlooking the Gulf of Trieste.

During challenging times, Elisa welcomed travellers and local residents alike with hearty meals, warm hospitality, a shared radio that brought people together, and a telephone available to anyone in need.

In the 1950s, her son Mirci and his wife Mira introduced a number of improvements, making the property more comfortable and earning it a reputation that extended well beyond the village. Despite its growing popularity, the inn retained its warm, family atmosphere. It was
not unusual to see Mirci sharing a glass of wine with his neighbour, the Prince of Thurn and Taxis.

In 2007, Elisa’s grandson Corrado carried the family tradition forward with further renovations, transforming the historic inn into a true landmark and gathering place at the heart of the village.
